Mental Health Support Worker

Join Our Team as a Mental Health Support Worker at YTLC Group

Position: Casual, $41 per hour + superannuation

Autonomy: High level of independence, no fixed office location

Purpose: Support individuals with psychosocial disabilities under the NDIS.

At YTLC Group, we value our staff, offering compensation well above award rates to attract the best talent. Our rate is $41 per hour plus super, with additional penalty rates for weekends and public holidays.

About the Position:

When you join YTLC Group, you’ll be matched with clients in your area based on service requests. You and your clients will create a schedule that works for both of you, usually one to two appointments per week. You will have the flexibility to manage your own time and build a stable weekly routine, with regular, ongoing hours.

It may take a few weeks to reach your desired number of hours, but our goal is to help you achieve your target workload within three weeks of starting. You’ll be working with clients for a set number of hours each week, helping them live independently and confidently.

Your Role Might Include:

  1. Meeting clients in their homes for support and conversations.
  2. Assisting with daily tasks such as grocery shopping or attending appointments.
  3. Accompanying clients for walks in the park or community activities.
  4. Supporting personal administration tasks like bill payments or housing searches.
  5. Helping clients navigate social situations or improve physical health.
  6. Assisting with home tasks such as gardening or light cleaning.
  7. You’ll work independently, supported by a dedicated supervisor to guide you through any challenges.

About You:

  1. Strong interpersonal skills and comfort in meeting new people.
  2. Prior experience in mental health or community roles is preferred.
  3. If you don’t have direct experience, explain how your life or professional experience prepares you for this role.
  4. Looking for a consistent schedule of at least 10 hours per week, with most work occurring weekdays during standard hours (9-5).
  5. Able to manage your own roster and work independently.
  6. Willing to commit to at least 12 months in the role, ensuring consistency for clients.
  7. Confident with basic office technology and have your own phone and computer.
  8. Access to a car and a current driver’s license (transporting clients is required, with reimbursement for mileage).

Highly Desirable but Not Essential:

Relevant training or education, such as a Certificate IV in Mental Health
Lived experience with mental health.
